Our first day of riding takes us from the heart of Seoul into the peaceful countryside. We begin along the Cheonggyecheon Stream’s bike lanes before merging onto the Han River Bike Path, riding about 40 km past parks, promenades, and fellow cyclists. As we move farther from the city, the skyline fades and the crowds disappear. Near the meeting point of the North and South Han Rivers, the scenery transforms completely. We stop at a hidden café known for Korean rice cakes and expertly brewed espresso, then continue the final 20 km along riverside paths through tunnels, dams, and lush landscapes. We finish the day near Yangpyeong, famous for its hangover soup, Hae-jang-guk.

We continue riding along the South Han River, heading south to Yeoju for lunch. Known as the “City of Porcelain,” Yeoju is famous for its centuries-old ceramic tradition. We visit Silleuksa Temple, a riverside Buddhist complex dating back to the 6th century, where we glimpse Korea’s ancient past and admire beautifully preserved architecture, including ceramic roof tiles with floral designs. After lunch, we follow the river deeper into central Korea and end the day in a hot spring town — the perfect way to unwind after a full day of discovery.

We continue south along the Namhan River Bike Path, passing peaceful rural scenery filled with rice paddies and quiet villages. After riding over the scenic Tangeum Lake in Chungju, we leave the South Han River behind and join the Saejae Bicycle Path. This route takes us past a striking wooden suspension bridge and into the lush green mountains near Suanbo. Known as Korea’s historic hot spring retreat, Suanbo has long welcomed kings and presidents seeking rest. Tucked in the mountains, this small city offers a calm and restorative evening — the perfect pause before the big climb on day 5.

We begin the day with a gentle but steady climb, rewarded along the way with a scenic waterfall, an ancient Buddha carving, and sweeping views over the valley below. After reaching the highest point of our holiday and celebrating the accomplishment, we cross into North Gyeongsang Province and enjoy a long, well-earned descent. The uphill stretch is just 5 kilometers at a manageable grade, followed by over 20 kilometers of downhill riding. After a truely authentic lunch, we continue our descent and stop for a great cup of (ice) coffee, as Korea is famous for. We finish the day in the charming city of Mungyeong, with plenty of dinner options and a lively local market to explore the next morning.

On our final riding day, we connect with yet another beautiful bicycle path, the Nakdong River Bicycle Path. This is a particularly scenic rural area, with the river – and our cycling route – braiding its way through rice paddies, vegetable farms, quaint villages, and dense woodlands. While we stick to the valley floor, panoramas of the lush hillscape surrounding us are ever present. We end the ride at Andong Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This traditional Hanok village is the perfect place to spend our final night.

Waking up surrounded by tradition, we spend the morning exploring Andong Hahoe Village, a living example of traditional Korean culture with a history spanning over 600 years. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the village offers a glimpse into the clan-based lifestyle of the Joseon Dynasty, with its narrow lanes and beautifully preserved hanok homes. Hahoe is also famous for its vibrant wooden masks, used in traditional folk performances that reflect Korea’s rich storytelling heritage. After our visit, we head to Andong Station for your onward journey to Gyeongju, but not before enjoying one final delicious Korean lunch to close out the tour.
